Being able to save/favorite threads.

Is there a way to save/bookmark specific threads that I find helpful? It would be nice to be able to bookmark a specific thread and be able to create a list of sorts instead of having to find the post again.

Yes, this is a feature of phpBB. You can bookmark a thread using the wrench dropdown menu (next to the Post Reply button). Once you bookmark one or more threads, they show up in your control panel:
