It's a lot of reasons stacking on top of each other. The old guard growing older, the night ops topics on other forums dead or just missing the point, forum crashes, a bout of administration problems, etc.
Best thing to do is present the idea intelligently and point out the versatility of night ops to those who like to do more than just look.
