Hi nightoppers, I've been here for a while since I learned about stealthtechniques YouTube channel about two years ago. I just became a member today. I heard about you guys were going to write a book on NightOps, why not in pdf form and put it in the Library on this forum. The title could be NightOps: Exploring The Dark Night Operations of Your Enviroment. How's that for a title. If you need help in that area I'm available, title wise that is. All of you can contribute something useful on the subject. Put your ideas together and come up with a masterpiece. Chapters can be Begnner, Novice, Professional, Expert, Master, Grandmaster. 6 levels of NightOps. Hows that for an imagination? Hopefully the community on here can and will get it done right. Don't think there isn't any interest, there is. That is your challenge and mission, do you accept or decline. Your choice, but make the right one. This message will self destruct in 5 seconds, cue Mission Impossible music. Have fun and be safe out there, all of you. Thank you for making a great topic of our enjoyment.

A singular volume about Night Ops would be a pretty big encyclopaedia. The Way of the Shadow (TWOTS) is a comprehensive guide to what we now call "Night Ops", however it is very dated and could do with an updated version. The format is already there, but it's till quite a task to undertake though.

Hi Xanatos, thank you for the reply and I love your op videos. You mentioned you don't have a YouTube account, but I saw the ghilli video on YouTube was it yours? Meaning your channel. Is there a plan to update the NightOp manual and if not why? Do you practice Ninjutsu, Jeffery Miller Warrior Concepts is interesting to look into because he teaches not just Taijustsu but, stealth, fire, disguise and impersonation and others it seems. Escape and Evasion from Jason Hanson teaches a lot of the mentioned E&E, he is a former CIA operative. Sigma teaches wilderness survival and SERE. Eventually I would love to learn the above mentioned. It definitely would come in handy in NightOps, for everyone to learn to survive in this world, not just NightOps. Would you eventually, sometime in the future, like to talk to me from skype. I would like to get to know you better. Hopefully we can. How would you like to proceed, very carefully I would imagine. What would you be comfortable with the steps taken? What is your experience with NightOps, how did you start and progress from there? Thank you again for your reply. Hope to talk to you soon.

Thank you for your input. Do you know what I was talking about, training, without it you can't accomplish anything. Larping stands for live action roleplaying , which isn't what I was talking about. Do your research before you condemn anyone about the subject, which by the way you could say NightOps is the same thing. For example stealth, disguise, and impersonation. Stealth, sneaking about, disguise and impersonation - dark clothing - invisibility, pretending to be part of the darkness which in reality your not but blending in. Wilderness survival and learning to escape could be the same thing which none of it is. You need to survive the night any way you could, so the skills are necessary for survival which is real, not a game because once you lose, you probably wouldn't get another chance. You were harsh about it which is not how we should interact with each other. Kindness goes a long way to establish friendship and communication. Plus I was talking to Xanatos. I think an apology is in order which would establish hopefully good communication in the future. Again I thank you for your input and hope we all can learn from each other. Thanks.

People still use Skype? Thought that went the way of MSN.

You're right about survivalism though, the ethos & practises of wilderness (or even urban) survival are very applicable to Night Ops. They're all about travelling light, minimising traces left behind, improvisation and resourcefulness. Plus the "prepper" mindset to be prepared for anything. Even if you don't have a bug-out-bag, knowing how to survive is invaluable (and can't be dropped or forgotten at home).

Thank you for your response Xanatos, nice to hear from you. How did you start and progress with your training in NightOps and would you like to keep in touch that was mentioned above before the interruption. The Ops you did is fascinating but the car Op you should have ducked down when the light came on. Never show a shadow if you can help it. Example Warehouse Op also. Be safe out there and what kind of training do you do? I love the outdoors, it's peaceful when your in the wilderness, did you ever go camping and if so where? I know you probably wouldn't tell the exact location but in general. What do you think of Ninjutsu, because in the modern world people still use a lot of the skills in more of a modern way, such as the military, spy agencies and law enforcement and of course NightOppers, can't forget the specialists of the night. Stealth, lockpicking, camouflage and reconnaissance is crucial for a number of reasons and other skills which is very important to learn, just like Ninjutsu, the 18 skills still apply today and again in a modern way, without the proper training it's not going to work in your favor. Practice and doing are different because you need to experience it first hand and get a good feel for it. Have you done anymore Ops lately and if so what? Would you create another video if you do and again be careful and be safe out there. Hope to hear from you again.

The ID of calling something a LARP is an old 4chan appropriation of the term used specifically to denote people who are pretending at something rather than engaging with the thing in reality

Example of the nomenclature use of LARP:
"OP is a bong(from the UK), he does not have an SKS(Funny formerly cheap rifles) so any thing he was talking about is likely a LARP(This experience is likely untrue)"

It's pretty common jargon but Shadow Scout wasn't talking about condemnation of Larping as a hobby, it's just how a large chunk of the internet named non participant culture.

Either way get shoes on, get a camera and go sneak into someplace.
