Assuming you're using Tor, yeah for some reason the site doesn't seem to like leaving you logged in for long. It's been brought up in Suggestions.

As for the topic at hand, that's kind of a huge subject where it depends on where you're at and what elements you're trying to avoid. Most of the written material out there is really basic and doesn't account for newer measures like high resolution cameras or AI checking things like how you walk against known footage. For example, let's say you're a suspect and they record or have a pre-existing recording of you walking and check that against a recording where you were maybe somewhere you weren't supposed to be.

Overboard? Beats me, all depends on the severity of things. Regardless, the best info right now is probably going to be on YouTube. I feel like this is a subject better approached from on a case-by-case basis, though. If you're wearing a disguise, I'm assuming you expect to be seen. So... you just try to look like you belong in the area and don't resemble yourself as you are now. There are still old school tricks that should work fine in accomplishing that, like cotton balls in the face to pad it, rock in shoe to change gait if needed, measures to swell different areas, and from there you're dressing appropriately.

The big thing with disguise is situations always matter more than the disguise.

There's a difference between having a dressed down grey appearance in daylight and having something that makes you much hard to ID in a specific crowd. You could be looking at doing a Changeover to evade not people, but people who are following you based on previous appearances.

Two hats.
Reversible jacket.
Convertible pants.

Get around a corner and you've got a new look. This is just a basic.
What about your face? Do you have short hair, long hair. Are you obviously ugly? These are real concerns that can make you stick out. Are you dirty? Are you clean in a place where being clean is unusual? Do you wear a business suit like it's comfortable and normal for you? These are all small things that all depend on situation first.

If you describe what you expect to encounter then a better idea of what could worth with disguise, and without one, can do for you.
