Anti-Stress Technique

This is a technique commonly used by Navy Seals and other special forces units
Box Breathing
divide your breathing into four steps
4 Steps

Go through the process as many times as necessary
Navy Seals will normally do this for up to five minutes
Useful in the field and during day to day life for wellness
Helps regulate heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature
Relaxes the body and helps deactivate the fight or flight response
Heightens cognitive performance
Improvement to thinking/reasoning
Improved concentration
Clears the mind
Helps manage impulsive behaviour
Go out and practice after dark in a field or on a rooftop

- Inhale slowly through your nose while counting to four
- Concentrate on filling your lungs and abdomen with air
- Let your body feel the air as it's filling your lungs
- Exhale
- Take a deep breath
- Hold your breath and count to four again
- Exhale slowly through your mouth while counting to four
- Concentrate on getting all the air out of your lungs at once
- Take a deep breath
- Hold your breath and mentally count to four again
- Exhale
