Your NONET Download Folder

Post by Illusion » Wed Jan 18, 2012 2:21 am

Well, as most of us seem to be fairly hungry for knowledge - I though it would be kinda cool for us to list any recent NONET related downloads; if only to give others ideas of whats out there!

For those out there who are wondering how to do this; the examples below will allow you to dump a list of everything in your Downloads folder into a text file named "download_list.txt", located in either your home directory (*nix style systems) or "My Documents" directory (windows). Then of course just edit out any other files. Obviously this uses the Downloads folder, but if you have a specific NO folder then go for that one instead!
Linux or Mac (and other *nix variants):

Code: Select all

Mac and Linux:
cd ~/Downloads
ls > ~/download_list.txt
Windows:

Code: Select all

cd ".\My Documents\Downloads"
dir > ..\download_list.txt
Perhaps if you like the look of something in someones folder they could advise you how to go about getting yourself a copy!

I clear my downloads bin pretty regularly, but I keep all my Night Ops & underground related stuff in a proprietary hidden & locked folder. Courtesy of one NOnet member.
We are all books containing thousands of pages and within each lies an irreparable truth.
What is locked, can be opened. What is hidden, can be found. What is yours... can be mine.

I'm not asking anyone to post anything sensitive or incriminating - merely things you would download off of TPB or ebook websites. Psychlonic and I were toying around with doing an eBook thread - which is why I've decided to catalog all my downloads.

I encrypt all my data on several truecrypt volumes, but that's not to say that I keep all my applications, fitness videos and ebooks un-encrypted on my external HDD. There are numerous advantages to encryption, undoubtedly, and I think it should be used very loosely; wherever it may hold an advantage. However when it comes to encrypting many gigabytes of downloads, which range from coding/fitness/martial arts/lockpicking videos, and similarly coding/fitness/martial arts/lockpicking/chemistry/electronics... eBooks- I don't feel the need.

If anyone has access to my downloads then it's safe to say they've searched my house, and they have searched it properly (incidentally, some of the hiding techniques I've heard have been abysmal - if you're getting your property searched, it's being searched thoroughly most of the time) - I'm not going to pretend that at this phase they didn't understand that I possessed lockpicks (not a problem here), tried to keep fit and had specific hobbies and activities. There's still no evidence or any incriminating data there.

However, if you're going around doing activities which aren't NO ("Ametuar Science" *ahem*) then the requirement for encryption is there 100%, I'm not going to deny that - but not the kind of materials I'm asking for here.

The resources guide always needs more of this kind of stuff. Moddy, are you willing to send me some of those files?

Of course I am!

It's your lucky day actually as I've managed to sort my external HDD out today; so I will post a proper directory listing in a bit.
