EDC (every day carry) Thread

Post by Ghost » Fri Apr 23, 2010 4:17 pm

So the idea behind this thread is simple - get a camera, empty your pockets, and post a picture of what you normally carry on a day to day basis. add a little description, or if you don't have a camera, a short list would do just fine. here's mine, i tend to pack a fair amount of gear around with me.

Image

1st wallet - carries ID cards, money, ect.
cellphone - a samsung sway, capable of holding up to 16gb on a micro sd card
ipod nano - carries my music and a backup of some important files
watch - bought it after graduating basic, where i got in the habit of wearing one.
2nd wallet - carries a half diamond and a hook, a couple tension wrenches, a small pocket knife, and a penlight. Used to have a pen in there as well, but i need to find another one small enough to fit.
knife - a single edge benchmade folding knife, blade length 3.5 inches
aviators - fuck yeah style!

I have more-or-less the same kit:

Bandana: Worn like a sash by tying one corner to a belt loop. Stylish and serves a variety of uses (drying hands, wiping phone screens/rings, small makeshift bag, facemask to protect against smoke/dust, bandage, etc).
Cell phone: Communication, clock, timer, basic camera, entertainment, whatever phones do nowadays.
Wallet: ...yeah.
Swiss card: Miniature tool set containing a small scalpel, a pen/spike, nail file & screwdriver, toothpick, scissors, pin, tweezers & a 3in/7cm ruler. Very handy.
Kubaton: I used to carry a tube of metsu-bishi with me but now I carry my new kubaton. It's more versatile, smaller & easier to conceal, has unlimited ammo and won't explode & spill inside your pocket.
Appx. 180cm nylon string: Virtually no weight or space consumption, has come in handy on multiple occasions. Variety of uses.
MP3 player: With earhugger headphones for when I do Parkour so they won't fall out.
Sunglasses: Keeps bright light out of my eyes thus preserving my nightvision and also has a good tactical advantage; makes it harder to tell where I'm looking. Everybody assumes a person wearing shades is looking straight ahead, allowing me to discreetly scan my front & flanks thoroughly (or read people's minds without them knowing ). And they look cool 8).

Dental floss (for sewing)
Swiss army Knife
2 Condoms
Short length of paracord
Pen
Black Sharpie
Lighter

Cellphone
Wristwatch
Lighter
Oakleys (the sunglasses)
Folding knife
Wallet
Belt with a decently heavy buckle.

Nothing too special. The knife is more for work than defense, the belt is intended to be the main defensive weapon with the knife as backup. I also wear steel-toed shoes fairly often mostly because I just happen to like the feeling, but they're ready to break some bones if needed. I try to prepare more for a potential attack than a spontaneous op, where I have the luxury of being the "aggressor".

I don't carry any weapons; my own skills are sufficient to ward of any attackers. At least, so far. I have been surrounded by nine people, all with knifes, and have managed to escape. Of course, I was pretty effed up, but I still broke one guy's jaw and another's nose. Quite the afternoon, that was. I suppose I should carry something, at least...

One knife wielded by a drunk was enough to give me a scar, and that was when i happened to be carrying my own as well. Nine knives? You're lucky to be alive. That's a story i'd like to hear.

I'm a student ATM and usually I carry around a barebones opping kit (lighter, mini torch, swiss army knife two lockpicks, small screwdriver and a heavy duty card) every day, apart from the usual (wallet, thumb drive, phone, MP3 player) I also usually carry a deck of cards with me, (I can throw them pretty accurately and they make great distractions, as well as being good for a quick game).

The reason for this is I often go window shopping and opping with very little notice with a friend who lives such that my university is halfway between my house and his.

Usually I have

- Usually a multi tool.

- Wallet obviously.

- Sometimes a notepad for writing down random things I discover ( usually use my phone though ).

Thats about all I carry.

hi pretty new here, got linkd from &t2 and prefer this forum much more. my edc consists to a maxium (but i try my best to always carry all my edc gear) a wallet chained to my pants, a d hook, a jet lighter with safety mirror and compass, a cheap (very reliable) winchester multi-tool, a mini vice grip, a box cutter, a coldsteel urban pal, a spyderco knife (forgot model) a mini mag light, a WHITE bic, a sweat band (literally has 500 uses), keys, and my phone.

i know it sounds like alot of things to carry via pockets but its actually not bad at all, and considering the shitty area i live in i almost feel like im lacking without my edc. oh and i usually wear those tatical boots they sell from big 5 and i like to have utility gloves with me if possible or i know i wont need to liberate anything from a store, gloves hanging out your back pocket draws the lps attention almost as much as a baggy sweatshirt in the summer would in a store... and i live in the fuckin mojave area of the states

i did really quick wana touch back on the sweat bad really fast. wear a all black one, it doesnt need to be a fashion statement... working with your hands and their fairly dirty.. instand sweat rag, stash things inside them; cut a hole on the inner lining (the part thats not visible) and you can pass a pat down with a razor blade, a baggie with pills or other said drugs that dont leave an impression, money, any paper doccuments. attach things to your body underneath them; box cutters, my urban pal if it didnt go in my boots, a small fixed blade in the sheath. use them as a pressure device for large cuts, slide it carefully over the cut lifting up the part and setting it down ower the cut. on the opposite side use a stick or rod or small pole, whatever, twist it once maybe twice and bam instant good pressure. fuck i could keep going on but this posts already tl;dr, but theres some ideas. get creative!
then the asshole started waving the thing around like a mamaracka or whatever the fuck you call them!

My EDC's been updated with a black UniBall Eye pen (for writing, but also sturdy & pointy enough to be used for SDF) and a black ribbed kubaton. I'm getting some sheaths made for some of my knives, so I may start carrying around karambits also.

I'm a student in school, so I don't have a knife ect.
Any ideas on what I should carry? If you had a kubaton, a SRO would taze you immediately. Anything high school friendly.
As of now, my list varies.

-Various papers
That's it...

You can kill somebody with paper. May take a while though, especially if they're hefty.

Wow, this thread is from 2010. My EDC these days is just a benchmade folding knife, wallet, and iphone. Once NYS gets back to me, i'll be adding a Kimber Solo to that list.

I know this has come up here before, but any thoughts on the sinclair cardsharp? i feel like that would be a pretty neat addition, but i still haven't bought one yet because it looks a little gimmicky.

Could anyone give me ideas to an EDC for school thing?

A Sinclair cardsharp would be cool. It might just be the fact that something the size of a credit card can be a knife.

Keys on paracord
Smartphone and charger
If I am carrying my canvas pack, and I usually am then:
A spare set of clothes
Trash bags, so handy
Rain Coat
Opping gloves
Neck gaiter
Picks
Some basic hygiene products

Ghillie, why is being a student stopping you from having a knife? I carried when I was in school, and college, and pretty much everywhere I go regardless of the laws. It isn't an issue as long as you don't go waving it around.

I carried when i was in school as well, but that was a few years ago. Things seem like they have become more paranoid since then, so it's up to you whether you want to risk it either way.

Ghillie, the trick is not letting anyone know you have until you need it still. It's just very simple to not say shit and carry it everywhere.

Wallet
Phone
Earphones
Keys on a lanyard
Watch
Torch
Handkerchief

Nothing out of the ordinary. Torch is right sorta size to fit nicely inside a fist if it comes to it. The keys and lanyard makes a nice flexible weapon, too. I'm planning on adding a bandana to the list when I find one I like.

I'll share mine.

Card-Wallet
Phone
Steel Will Censor
Half Diamond, Short Hook & Flat Z-Wrench tied together with a hairband.
Moleskine Volant & Pen

Might as well go for my wish list EDC.

Safe Keeper II (Kydex Sheath w/ Internal Clip Setup) or Applegate-Fairbairn Combat II carried in a Böker Schulterholster.
Glock 19 4th Gen (Lone Wolf Threaded Barrel, 2.5 Pound Trigger, Steel Recoil Spring, Titanium Guide Rod, Trapeze Slide Lock, Beaver Tail, Tritium Night Sights & Leather Holster + Extra Mag)
Sparrow's Leather Tuxedo Case (All picks Euro Size: City Rake, Half Diamond, Short Hook, Bogota, Worm, Feeler Gauge, Peterson Knife, Peterson Prybar/Prybar Lite, Z-Wrench, Dragon Wrench, Wafer Rakes)
Rectal Concealment Kit in Italian Murano Glass or Leather Card Holder (2x Magnum Condoms, Credit Cards/Locksmith's Cards, Plastic Cuff Key, Pink Fuzzy Cuffs)
Small Pocket Notebook in Grey/Black & a Karas Kustoms Brass Bolt

Yeah if I had the funds for an EDC like that, hit me up.
Don't take it too seriously, you're not coming out of it alive.
