Darts

Post by stealththief » Sun Jul 05, 2009 7:37 am

I remember people talking on and off about blow guns. I just made a blowgun, was wondering what kind of darts do people use/make/buy. The blowgun I made is a design I got from Snookytoeflips "ninja tips" video:

Code: Select all

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAezpcdWf8E
and the tube is 1/2 inch PVC.
Thanks.

What do you plan on using it for?

Not sure really, I was at Home Depot and saw the PVC (which is dirt cheap) and remembered some black paint I had and decided to make one. Might incorporate it into ninja training, probably won't come out on night ops unless it's real specific and necessary (read:never).

Thanks for the tips I'll probably cruise around the hardware store, youtube and martial arts websites see what I can come up with.

I have loads of PVC. Maybe I should try something like this.

It's more of a for fun/old school training thing, but if you have some free time go for it, can't do any harm.

didn't Ninja use their blow guns as snorkels, as well?
Here's another Idea for a use :D

And you could allways slap things with it, when things really get messy, I guess.
that's why roger podactor was murdered,

It's pretty easy to make a serious compressed-air powered blowgun out of pvc, as long as you're careful constructing the air reservoir. It's hard to get the release valve to work properly, though - don't get one that you have to twist sharply, it affects aiming too much for the blowgun to be useful.

The one I made could shoot a dart though 3/4" particle board, and could also make holes in the same material with marbles. But, the aiming sucked because of the force I had to apply to open the release valve - when it finally sprang open, it would jerk the barrel off target.

I don't like PVC for blowguns. I use a 3/4" diameter 3' long piece of aluminum tube. For ammo I make paper cones and put nails in them. Or I shoot ball bearings.
