Breaking in boots

Post by stealththief » Fri Mar 06, 2009 1:37 am

I have this great pair of sturdy dark timberland books and I feel they'd be great for ops but they make a bit of noise when I walk not from walking loud but because the boot itself bends and makes sounds. How long does it usually take to break in a pair of boots so that they're close to silent when using stealth walking?

If your in habit of walking heal to toe, and I'll explain....

Start your step on the very back edge of the heel of the boot
and roll to the toe. This works for pavement and gravel, but
gravel requires some bend in the knees to keep silent.
This will leave tracks in grass, sand, mud...

Heel to toe for a few miles on pavement has always worked for me.
Give it a try and it may help.

Stealth walking can be accomplished with most any footwear
but it takes some practice.
My primary objective any during nighttime op is to remain undetected.
This means that I don't break or take things, to do so would be to fail my mission.

~20 miles and they can be broken in.
Not all at once, unbroken boots would destroy your feet.

I usually jog short distances in them on and off, and then do stealth walking when I feel like it, with them on.
