I've been researching cryptocurrency and I'm wondering what u all think of this as a viable option to use for buying gear and other suspicious items?

Don't know how it would work...just an idea. :D

It's the go-to method for 'illicit' purchases. Don't know too much about how it works myself, someone else will have to elucidate.

Im not a full on hacker but I know a thing or two about computers. Use the "onion browser" or Tor.

With it, you get access to things like the deep web and then, dark web.

If the FBI wanted to track you, they would have to really dive into what you are up to and get some serious hackers on board to pinpoint your whereabouts.

Bitcoin is a form of digital currency that cannot be traced back to its owner and can be used online without giving away any personal data. This is especially true on the deep and dark web ( Tor browser LOOK IT UP)

Also, heres a link to a documentary about the Silk Road. Thought it was interesting how one guy was able to use Google to kickstart the investgation. Insane sotry

You could buy the most illegal substances and never be tracked. On the deep/ dark web, you can hire hitmen, hackers, and all kinds of crazy crap. (Little to do with ops but if you need to buy some illicit stuff like guns, drugs, or stolen goods, Tor browse can help.

Personally im only 16 and im typing this on a school Chromebook that the administrators can see what I do. I am tempted to dowload the tor browser on the family computer but dont want to be questioned about it.

Just would ALWAYS question who to trust as alot of services and even the salespeople on their can scam you out of your Bitcoin.

Be warned though, a good bit of the people on the dark web are of criminal nature and if you double cross them or scam them out of their stuff, you are fully responsible for what happens after...

I like to consider it an Honor among crooks or Honor among thieves kind of like they say it in the books and stuff.

Just be careful.

Probably not wise to post from a device that others have access to. You can put TOR on a USB stick and carry it with you, so no need to install it on any device.

I know this is a little old at this point, but please, if you are trying to buy things with crypto. . . especially illicit things, bitcoin is no longer safe or private enough. My first choice would personally be Monero, you can go on their website or the subreddit if you'd like to learn more about why it is better and how to use it.

Nothing happened to BTC, it is just less private than people are led to believe. BTC transactions allow anyone to see the sender, receiver, and the transaction amount. These 3 things alone are enough to determine what was bought by who (If finding out is very important). Of course these kind of investigations are only used by the government for large, important crime, but it is still an issue. In addition when bought on an exchange the exchange requires your ID most of the time, making that a non viable option. Monero transactions by comparison "hide the sender, amount, and receiver in the transaction" (Monero FAQ) meaning that there is really no way to trace a transaction back to a specific person unless they slip up and use their real ID on something Monero-related or they are so high profile that they are watched by some law enforcement agency. This is all really overkill though, and bitcoin is generally fine if you are doing small scale things, but when there is a much better option out there I don't see a point in not using it instead.
