I've used one for quite a while now and it has proven to be very useful in many situations.
In my area (Western Europe), locks that can be opened with this type of key are everywhere (lamp posts, breaker boxes, big phone and internet boxes on the streets, industrial equipment, alarms boxes in schools,...).
You should definitely buy one (the real Knipex key, not a cheap knock-off).
