Multitool Review: Leatherman Wingman

Post by Roxas » Wed Mar 06, 2013 10:37 pm

this review is about the Leatherman wingman the $25 multitool that i think should be at least $50

i ordered this multitool from Kmart. it took 3 days to get here.
and it was completly worth the wait
this multitool comes with 14 tools total

1: spring-action needle nose pliers
2: spring-action regular pliers
3: spring-action wire cutters
4: 420HC combo knife (partially serrated)
5: package opener
6: wood/metal file
7: scissors
8: small flat-head screwdriver
9: medium flat-head screwdriver
10: Phillips screwdriver
11: ruler (1.5 inches)
12: bottle opener
13: can opener
14: wire strippers

my favorite thing i like about these is that it is "spring loaded" which means it resets itself automatically when you close it, it opens back up
the "hard wire" cutters seem a bit hokey to me

they seem to be a little dull and too thick....even though they are called "hard wire cutters" and this IS a $25 multitool...

all pliers are very precise nothing bad to say.

the blade this multitool came with was razor sharp out of box. and the serrations look better than most.

the package opener seems like an "outside the box idea" but if i had to use it im sure it would get the job done.

the wood/metal file is so/so you will not be able to groove with it sadly...that's what makes it so/so

the scissors had me confused but upon further inspection when i though it was manual it was in fact spring loaded meaning the scissors will open back up.

all screwdrivers seem up to par and will get the job done if need be.

i hate the ruler....seems like you could put in something more useful...like a saw? id prefer that.

the bottle and can opener are made into one.....im on the fence on this decision

the wire strippers are part of the bottle/can opener i like these..those will get a job done...

overall i really like this for EDC.
not for opping as it is high satin and i prefer something black like a Leatherman super-tool 300 in black oxide.

again these are spring-loaded which i love
this multi-tool comes with a belt clip....no sheath or case

i would recommend these to a friend.
The problem with trying to be the bad guy, is that there is always someone worse

What have you actually done to them to test them?
Keep 'em chained, boys!
