I will catalog all changes to nightops.net here, rather than make a new thread each time.

Here's the progress so far:

-I have acquired a list of e-mail addresses that I will deal with tomorrow.
-The 'glass' themes will be installed shortly. Please PM me if you have any theme requests.
-Borknik has a list of users with zero posts, and will be deleting them.

Here are the current proposals for future work:
-Move the site back to a real domain
-Set up a chatroom
-set up a site outside of this one, so it the forum goes down again, users will have somewhere to go to check the site's status.

Again, please PM me with questions or suggestions.

I upgraded phpBB from version 2.0.22 to version 3.0.4. You know, in case you didn't already notice.

I also created a blog in case NONET goes down. See the related Announcement.

EDIT: Also, you can post links in plaintext now, without the code tags.

I updated the resources page, check it out at:
no.surgen.org/resources.html

Even more content is forthcoming.

EDIT:
Added a bunch of new content and reorganized slightly.

If you have any guides, etc, that you would like to put up on the site, send me a PM.

NONET has a proper domain name again!

In a few hours you should be able to access the forum at:

http://www.night-ops.net

I couldn't get the old domain name back from the squatter that stole it, so now we have to live with a hyphen. However, I control the name now, so there's no way it can be stolen for a second time.

Finally, props to Borknik for coming up with the new domain.

Due to the lack of activity on nonet, a few changes are going to be implemented to show people that we have a welcoming and knowledgeable community. Here is a list of the changes made (so far):

- The forum is no longer a walled garden; guests can read all of the forums (except Experiences). However, guests must register to post.
- The forums have been reorganized.
- All threads about car shopping, theft, etc will be moved to bad Ideas.
- Upgraded phpBB from 3.0.4 to 3.0.6.

More changes are in the works, too, so check back!

I have revamped the night-ops.net web site, check it out at http://night-ops.net. I will be creating nicely-formatted pages for all of the categories in the Resources Guide in the near future.

If you have problems viewing the site, please let me know (you can send a PM) what browser you are using (include version number), as well as a description of the problem. I will not test or tweak the site for IE - if you're still using it, get the fuck out of the stone age: www.getfirefox.com.

Night ops chat is back after a long-ass hiatus! Check it out at

http://night-ops.net/chat

Now you can converse with other night-ops.net members in real-time, an ability the forum software itself lacks. Have fun and don't abuse it.

Good news, everyone!

Direct links now work (that is, you can click them instead of having to copy/paste them), and are redirected through anonym.to, a service that strips the referrer information. What does this mean? We have all the privacy of forbidden direct linking, and the convenience of permitted direct linking. It's the best of both worlds!

I put up a freesite for night-ops.net (see www.freenetproject.org if you don't know what a freesite is). Eventually, the Resources Guide will be mirrored there, and facilities exist for us to make a discussion forum there too. I'll make another thread describing this in greater detail.

The Nonet forums have been upgraded from phpBB 3.0.7-PL1 to 3.0.8. This is a bugfix release, so no major features have been added. Please report any bugs or broken things to nightopsforum@gmail.com.

Psychlonic, at his own request, has been removed from the Administrator and Global Moderator groups. An open invitation for him to return to the site's administration stands from this point forward.

phpBB has been updated to version 3.0.9.

CAPTCHA difficulty has been increased to hopefully deal with the "Russian Spammer" problem. Many inactive fake accounts were cleared from the database.

The Dare Ops thread has been successful enough to warrant its own forum. So, a new forum has been created and all existing dare completion posts migrated there.

EDIT: Most of the smaller forums (including Assistance, Resources, and The Mind and Body) have been merged into Techniques, which was renamed to "The Art of Night Ops".

A new BBcode tag has been added: [rimg]. This embeds a (linked to source) image into a post, but resizes it to 300x400 so it doesn't make the page really wide. This will be used in the Dare Ops forum mostly so that we don't have to rely on using phpBB attachments.
