Lubed Up

I just put some vaseline on my window, so now when opened it is much quieter. However, there are bristles on the side of the window which make a sound when opened, so I have to open the window very slowly. Although an impractical route until I build up more upper body strength, I have the benefit of knowing that it is still an option.

Oiling hinges & slides is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Glad to see it still in use.

I've also had problems with window bristles. You're exactly right that the solution is to just open it slowly. But, the sound of the bristles is certainly better than screeching and whining sounds as the window slides along the frame. Good luck with your exit route.
