I found 200gb of Data on a hard drive and it belongs to a known train company, I brought it second hand and it still got all the data on it, email archives, incident reports, video footage and audio recordings nearly 500 thousand files and my jaw dropped and I am not sure what to do about it to be honest but it’s definitely not good for a public ticket booking service to just sell off data drives and not securely wipe them. I don’t think there are many companies out there that practise good data deletion and you think about you go on the website you book a train and all your data ends up on their systems and then they never wipe them when they upgrade or discard technology.
If you had the money you could buy used hard drives, used android phones, memory cards and it’s a gold mine of data but if your unlucky you could find things like beastie porn like I did once

Is the data useful? 200GB is a lot to sift through.
We are all books containing thousands of pages and within each lies an irreparable truth.

It took me 6 hours and yeah it had a lot of personal data, outlook backups with login details, also had a ton of phone numbers, photos, software. In another life time I would have held the data to random and sell the disk back to them for a good sum of money. I bet it would be a major embarrassment to the company it came from

Well it's still open. Would be a HUGE PR problem if that info was made public.
