Night Ops

For increased security and privacy, NONET will be moving to a VPS in the near future. This means that we have to come up with a clever hostname - that is, a name by which the server will identify itself on the network. Once we've decided, the VPS will be named like "<hostname>.nightops.net".

I've gotten some ideas from people already which appear in the poll above. If you have new ideas, post in the thread and I'll add them to the poll (hostnames must be composed of lowercase alphanumeric characters, including hyphens). Vote for your favorite!

I like 'sanctuary', but for ease of remembrance I voted for 'nyx'.

Don't worry about having to remember it - you'll still be able to use just plain "nightops.net" as usual. Setting an inventive hostname is just for fun.

Well, I really do like the way "Sanctuary" sounds, and part of me feels like voting for my own suggestion is poor form.

I went with Sanctuary on this one. It just feels the most appropriate out of them all and I don't share Ghost's logic.

Night Ops Net is a sanctuary for people like us, and that's what the consensus seems to be so far.

I agree. Originally it was obviously a joking reference but I think it is really fitting.
