The UK Urbex Community (LCC) do it again!

Not content with doing the underground system the night before the royal wedding and having MI5 involved, they have now released videos of climbing the UK's largest tower - currently under construction. I've posted a fair bit about these guys recently (The London Consolidation Crew) - but this is a whole new level of idiocy.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstop ... lding.html

Still having legal troubles regarding incidents previously, they have decided to upload a video and photos.. and... erm.. give numerous interviews to the press? From what I gather, more interviews than a C list celebrity after she releases her first sex tape.. It's so fucking sensationalist too; in one interview they speak about a rule no one could do it until the 71st floor was complete.. wait what?

Arguably brilliant guys, but when will they learn that this careless attention is what got them legal troubles to begin with? I pass this building everyday and it's certainly impressive; I've even probed it a few times myself.

The fuck is "place hacking"? I admit, I'm jealous because that looks like an awesome place to go and I'm sure it took a lot of effort to get there, but flaunting it on television and for the media? Seems like he does it for bragging rights as well. I can see why you hate these people so much.

Oh fuck I hate these guys with such a passion. They are the epitome of everything I despise in the urbexing community. This in my opinion is exactly what we must strive to avoid in our experiences.

Yeah, I will concede that some of the write-ups I have going at the moment will be in a similar style... as a piss take. However most will be the usual style, and at most it will be the odd paragraph or two.

I have a similar UK Urbex site to rip on though, "Pro Urbex" I think they call themselves.. and they're linked to the LCC.

This isn't always a bad thing though - theres a group of Parisian explorers who have had lots of media attention. They had the name "The Mexican Drilling Company" - which is probably what made the LCC pick such a retarded name. (Consolidation Crew, wut?) However, the media attention for the French guys was pretty impressive - as it was completely anonymous. Also, towers arent that hard, admittedly, The Shard was something else though.

The French guys however built a cinema in the Catacombs - complete with bar, food, chairs and electricity. Police discovered it after doing a training exercise and hearing a dog barking, turned out it was a ghetto burglar alarm... a tape recorder with the sound on there. Police called in electricians to remove the equipment the next day and remove all the live cabling, however when they came back there was a simple note left - "Dont you dare try and find us". :D

Perhaps more impressive was when they fixed a clock above a museum, camping in the clocktower and slowly sneaking supplies (and people in) during visiting hours. They had a specialist clock repair guy who was able to fix it. When they informed the manager of the Museum (inviting him to be the first person to wind the clock up in x amount of years) he went mad, saying that they had embarassed the museum and they must break the clock again. They went to court and the Judge threw it out saying they had done a much needed job! If you google "les UX" you will probably find this stuff, a long with the news stories.

The difference being, les UX was (and is) anonymous and goes beyond Urbex. The LCC however cannot be anonymous, as you cant be egotistical whilst anonymous..!

I must admit, I'm impressed by the fact that they did all of that anonymously. That makes me like them more, but the LCC is still fucking nuts. Telling a few people about something you did is okay, but telling the news? That's a bit much. It seems like they're basically saying "fuck you" to the people who do the exact same thing but don't flaunt it. I think the clock story is hilarious, especially when the judge was happy that they did it. You brits with your weird names.

Yeah, The French guys Les UX are indeed awesome.

The LCC seems to be a poor attempt at copying the "La Mexicaine De Perforation" (The Mexican Consolidated Drilling Authority) sub-division of Les UX. If you just give that wikipedia article a quick scan you can see that they are highly organised, have sub-divisions with specialities and are generally frigging awesome! (Wikipedia says the note in the catacombs theater said "Do not search", but the Gaurdian article claims it was "Do not dare try and find us" - so take that as you will!)

I think the similarities of the names speaks volumes.. it's a bit pathetic to be honest. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery however!
