I swear I thought I lost them once and I was so mad at myself. Best part is, didn't even pay for them. I just found them randomly

Re: The Annual NONET Gear Thread

I didn't bother posting pics of my camera because all I have is it (a Canon Rebel) a tripod and an extra lens. But, this is the stuff I normally take on ops.

Awesome pictures. I'm going to have to go with Teutoni and say that the multicam does best in that environment. The custom worked really nice as well though. There were a couple a pictures that I had to stare at before I could actually find you. You guys make me want to invest in something other tha...

This would be more useful in a survival situation more than it would being out on an op, but you never know what could happen. Mixing potassium permanganate and glycerin creates fire without using matches or anything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWzZoaAOE3Y The potassium can also be doubled as a ...

When I'm not on chat on here (which everyone should get on right now as you're reading this) I'm a full-time student finishing up my high school classes while taking some general ed courses at the college I'll be attending next year. I'm a big theatre nerd and am currently assistant directing the th...

Unless you plan on using them a whole lot, I personally don't think they'd be worth the investment. They also look like they'd be kind of loud, but I'm just I assuming, because I've never actually heard anything about them before now. I don't think they'd be ideal for regular opping, but it all depe...

I just right clicked the image and opened it in a new tab and it worked that way. That's really awesome and convenient though. An easy way to avoid losing a hat or balaclava, and like you said, avoid looking like a convict.

I've heard many good things about them. Also, I never wear boots and I've never tried this method, I just assumed.

Re: Suddenly. Dry leaves. Billions of them. Everywhere.

I read somewhere before, it might have even been on here, that digging your toe under the leaves before you step down reduces the sound. I've never tried this, but I imagine it would be more trouble than it's worth if you were wearing boots.

Re: Timing

The ideal time I agree is midnight-early morning. We however live in a pretty small town so we usually go around 8-9 in the evening. We do a lot of low-risk stuff anyways and usually the places we go are semi-secluded.

Something I've done in the past is use coloured tissue paper or even sweet wrappers to make coloured filters for my flashlights! Well back on the topic of bargain alternatives then; instead of buying a full on respirator, hospital masks or those white pocket masks work fine most of the time. Also if you are just climbing short distances going up you can use multiple Prussiks versus a ascender.

Re: Bargain Alternatives Thread

It is possible to very easily stress 550 paracord beyond its design, causing it to snap. What many people do not understand is that, while you may weight only 175 lbs., the force exerted on a rope during climbing/rapelling is actually much greater, since you are bouncing up and down. Paracord should...

Re: Bargain Alternatives Thread

As far as rope goes, I would HIGHLY suggest 550 Para-cord, (the 550 rating says it that one strand will hold up to 550 pounds) This is relatively cheap, light weight, and it has a multitude of uses. Para-cord also comes in a multitude of colors as well. Para-cord has saved my life on more than one ...

I think i watched a episode of "To catch a thief" that they came up against a similar problem, they just kept brute forcing the door till the jam popped away, you could try that or bring a prybar for some extra leverage.

We'd be able to get in, we haven't tried yet though because we've been trying to get more information on it and watch it to see if any activity happens during the week. So far, nothing. We plan on doing it this weekend. Like we said, they guy who we think lives there is in jail we believe and has be...

Some pictures of the place since I was really bad at describing it. Found the guy we think lives here on several sites. **update** Did some social engineering and found out that the house (maybe) belongs to a 3 strike felon with 2 counts of drugs and a murder. Interesting yes and explains why house is abandoned, but dosent explain the sleeping bag and broken locks.

Re: How to tell if something is abandoned?

The location of this house makes it difficult to do any of that without making it seem suspicious if they were someone in there. The only way to get to the house is down some rotten steps that don't look very stable at all. It's about a 15 ft drop where the house is. It's hard to explain. We ended u...

I'm on the east coast and we've hardly gotten any snow here. The temperatures haven't been too low so I've still been actively scouting and researching/planning ops and such for when it warms up a bit more. Reading up on stealth techniques, looking up different gear, and I'm going to start experimen...

AVE... Just check out if there is any trash in a trashcan. Or observe the building for hour or more. If you can get close enough to check the energy meter, you can find out, if they have air conditioning or fridges running. Meters here have special disk to indicate if energy is drawn. Mine now make...

How to tell if something is abandoned?

My friends and I were scouting a house today and we couldn't decide whether anyone lived there or not. Looking at it you would think no one had lived there for years. Re: Your 2012 Gear Wish-List

The gear I have now suites me just fine, but it could, nonetheless, be improved. 1.) Some decent boots. I find myself going on ops in either converse or rainboots. 2.) A better infrared flashlight. Bought one not too long ago for $20 bucks and it's basically a piece of shit. 3.) A night vision camer...

Police SOP

So i was listening to the police scanner last night when i heard a call for a possible B&E in progress. Now being the urbex person I am, I decided to take notes so that I could have a slight edge next time the police were called on me. The police were on scene in about 5 min, but the caller advised ...
