A lot of the padlocks around here are usually situated in little hidey-holes (especially on shipping containers) meaning you can't fit anything bigger than a key up there. Still, useful to know if you need to open a padlock in a pinch and don't have access to more specialised tools.

I think the best application would be not as a true 'invisibility' shield/cloak, but a sort of multi-terrain ghillie suit to disguise your colour & form in any environment and make yourself seem as something other than human. People would still see something there, but won't be able to recognise it ...

I still tend to favour the cross-step method as a general rule, although sometimes employ a faster fox step if I need to keep my vision stable to detect movement.

Either that or do a gate vault , where you flop your torso over the fence and use your hands to push/lift your legs over. Doesn't work on spiked/barbed fences though. On lateral motion, a couple of times I've been in someone's FoV (whether they're actively looking for me or just passively scanning) ...

That's pretty fuckin' dope. Would be hard to get one here though. I carry a folding karambit as my standard EDC these days, but that one looks much nicer in quality.

Wouldn't mind a Fox599 Karambit myself. Has the Emerson Wave feature that makes it quick & easy to deploy from the pocket.

WotS isn't going anywhere. It's basically become classic literature, dated though it is. But it reflects what Night Ops was like in its infancy, and in some ways it's nice to see how far we've come.
