Re: Do you ever pack heat?

A suppressed .22 would be good for knocking out street lights, but it'd be tricky, especially in my neighbourhood.

The vertical wallrun is great. I can scale a 4m high brick wall with no problems.

Re: Softening an area

If it's a public area you can go in during the day and plant items around the place so you won't have to carry that much gear when you go on the op, such as hiding a rope near a wall or hiding lockpicks in a potplant. If there's a fire escape, you can open it from the inside and either disable the h...

Re: Pursuit and aggressive escape

I usually carry 2 tubes of metsu-bishi (Ninja blinding powder) on me on my ops, just in case. Havn't had to use them yet but the time will eventually come.

My Smith & Wesson HRT9B has gone with me on every op since I got it, never let me down. #1 on my kit list.

Yeah, just poking fun, nice work Psy. It is a good text to learn from. It doesn't have everything, but it's a great place to start.

Parkour on an op is like a knife; you may not need it, but it's very useful if you do.

Re: Head covering?

I use the Ninja t-shirt mask as well, no problem with hearing or breathing though. I think the shirt you use may be too thick, get a thin one. Maybe that will help.

Re: Gloves?

Tight, heavy-duty rubber gloves for me. I've got a pair called Ansell HyFlex, you can pick them up in any hardware store or supermarket (in Australia at least). They've got excellent grip, are dark, ventilated, cheap and easy to get a hold of. It's almost as if they were made for operators.

Re: Speed

Different people have different tobacco tolerances, which is why some smokers live to be 90 in almost perfect condition. For increasing speed, just time yourself over a set distance and try to beat it. I use my mind to speed me up. Instead of pushing my muscles to make me go faster, I use my mind to...

Re: Speed

Usually it's not the speed you need to worry about, but stamina. I can run fast, but not for very long. Normally you don't need to outrun your opponents for long, just long enough. If they get tired before you then you have succeeded. Just have a daily/weekly sprint and see how far you go, then try ...

As soon as I walk into a new environment I immediately look out for all possible exits, points of cover/concealment and do a crowd annalysis. Occasionally I look for things that might be of value.

Re: Pursuit and aggressive escape

An easy way to make tetsu-bishi (caltrops) is to buy some fencing staples, bend them into a 90 degree angle and superglue or weld their inner corners together. The way I usually escape (only happened once) is to break the line of sight and find a good hiding spot, then turn the hunter into the hunted.

Re: Some tips.

A good way to develop your nightvision before an op is to sit in the dark with sunglasses. Once you can see clearly, take them off and you'll see things as clear as day. Went on an op last week (just a bit of recon on a stadium) and tried this trick, I found it difficult to find good shadows to hide...
