Well, I can't find it. He only has two posts here on the site, so I'm thinking his story must be from 2005/2006 or so. I don't remember enough details to do his story justice, but I'll paraphrase just so you guys get the idea. This one takes the cake in my book as "most hardcore opping encounter". N...

My encounter was either 2006 or 2007, Scrouaf's was whenever all those riots were happening in France around the same timeframe. I'll look around and see if I can dig up his post later, it was a very interesting story. As for me, I was moving past a house that was having a party, cars parked all dow...

What Xaxa said. You deffinitely want pants with belt loops, and as for the belt - try a riggers belt or an instructors gun belt. They are both wide and rigid, very good for holding gear.

In my experience, belts are typically the least cumbersome option, unless you are carrying large amounts of gear. For those not used to wearing a vest or plate carrier, you'll notice it snag a good bit, as well as feeling unnatural and restrictive.

This is true, but both psychological warfare and tactics cannot be executed by the mind alone, unless you can think people to death. :P Anything that starts in the mind needs to be carried out by the body, hence why I don't view the mind by itself as a weapon. Alone, it can't accomplish anything. By...

I have a fairly similar outlook, although I do not consider the mind a weapon. Your mind is your will, the driving intelligence behind the conflict that will ultimately determine success or failure. Your arms, legs, body: these are what you use when you must physically force your will upon another. ...

To be fair, agility and bulk aren't mutually exclusive. To me, The ideal opper would seek to increase strength as much as possible while continuing to maintain speed and agility. Obviously, if you have to choose one, I'd rather go for agility and speed over sheer size. Being bodybuilder huge isn't g...

I suppose dying them wouldn't be too bad, but with all the options out there I'd rather just get something made to my specifications especially if I'm shelling out that kind of cash. Color wise, I need to stick to either black or camo for my area, greys or blues would look pretty out of place here e...

Great gear review, this is exactly the kind of stuff we like to see. They look like a pretty decent pair of pants, and I only have two hangups with them. First off, the pockets. I tend to prefer a more traditional BDU style layout, but this is of course personal preference. Secondly, the lack of col...

First off, welcome to night ops. You certainly seem to fit the "profile", as many of us here are into gear/parkour/weapons and things of that nature. I'm sure you'll fit right in. Damn you guys. Most winters, we've got several feet of snow on the ground. Once we get the first snow that sticks, that's generally considered the "end" of the opping season around here. It typically takes some very special circumstances to justify a winter op, as the risk of leaving tracks that wil...

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that this would combine the strengths of solid black and camo. Looks pretty epic too (I know, I know, you're not supposed to be seen anyway). I thought the same exact thing. There are very few true "night camo"s available, and this one seems to be tailor...
Re: Hey
I think a lot of us developed our interest in stealth that way, you'll fit in just fine around here. As for not being in an urban area - suburbia is a great place to start out opping. As far as generations go, 1, 1+, and 2 are all pretty fucking terrible. The image quality is a joke, as is the FOV. Surprisingly, the difference between 2+ and 3 isn't that huge, and either one will actually perform well enough to give you a distinct advantage. Unfortunately, anything gen2+ is going...

The fact that we're talking about NVDs in a thread about beginner's gear should strike all of you as being a little bit ridiculous. A lot of this is just going to be echoing what AEternaeon said, but here's my two cents: I think that a lot of people fall into the trap of thinking that you can either move fast, or you can be stealthy. This is a common misconception, because when you look deep down at what stealth really is, it ha...

Ah, here's a topic that's very near to my heart. However, I feel like there's one thing that everyone's definition include...
