It's been really quiet in the forum recently. I still check in regularly, I've just been busy with other endeavors to post much. I still roam the night but without a real mission.

Re: Policy (Unofficial)
I agree with all that. From what I've seen NON seems to moderate itself pretty well. Anyone that's come here with more extreme ideas doesn't get a lot of positive attention and eventually leaves. Spooks watching probably pick that up and prefer to not intervene with NON until some serious concerns a...

Looks good for it's first version. Wrist Watchs
Curious about peoples opinions on them for NightOps?
Tactical/Military watches have a ton of features, mostly suitable for survival settings. The feature I want the most (apart from telling the time) is voice recording, though it seems to be a niche feature not included in most watches.

Operating in cities very much requires grey man tactics to at least get to the AO (area of operation). The struggles I've been through trying to remain unseen just getting to an AO. For me it's mostly just not always having time and energy. PERSEC is definitely something I consider from time to time, and that's why I'll only post ab...
Re: Gloves
If I were good at tailoring I'd just add a decent pop button where the velcro sits. Although you may lose adjustability, I feel it'd be more convenient. Re: Gloves
Has anyone ever used gloves that don't have velcro adjust tabs? All the velcro gloves I have used tend not to stick too good. I know the velcro wears down over use but a pair I've only worn for not even a year keep randomly coming loose as I use them, it's fucking annoying. Random old topic to post ...

I just remembered a time many years ago that has me contemplating on the "sixth sense". I was with friends on a mission (I won't give specifics). Those belts with hidden compartments are perfect place to conceal picklocks, as long as it's placed at your rear where it's more flat. It's most useful purpose is probably to hold valuables such as cash or keys so they are not lost or robbed from you.

Mission/Operation Planning
I'm certain most night oppers enjoy the planning phase of ops just as much as the mission itself. All the recon and the attention to detail that goes into the planning is like an art form. I'm unsure if there is a thread already covering planning but I'd like how others go about mission planning. I'...

Good points. I have a black mesh shemagh that I've never actually used before, I'll have to give it a go. I think my only concern is that it can sit a bit loose and is a bit annoying and likely to snag on things. Though it will break up the outline of your head a lot more.

I usually wear a neck gaiter when doing non-actual ops, easy to pull up over half your face when you need to. But when doing a planed up wear a balaclava (with only eye slits). Some ops I'd prefer the gaiter just because high chances you will be spotted by public, less conspicuous than a full on bal...

I do agree with your points. Knives/multi-tools do seem too useful to go with out.
I think I'm just super cautious because when I was a teenager, the local police would ALWAYS stop and search me and confiscate gear. This was in Australia where weapon restrictions are higher than the US.

I don't bring blades of any kind. Always worried about that extra charge being slapped on me. Re: Unorthodox way of opening locks
Fortunately I have plenty of match powder dust handy.
Neat trick, but yeah getting the powder into the lock will require the lock be upside down (because gravity) which limits your options.
Though I wonder if sticking a magnesium strip in will have a similar effect.
