I'm planning on getting my friend(s) into night ops, but I feel like I owe him a true explanation of what it IS. Any ideas? A video or something would be preferable, but I don't want it to be too long, so it's more to the point. I don't plan on trespassing much, especially at first; just exploring s...

How in the heck do you op in jeans? That hasn't ever worked out for me, I usually use some cargo sweats for flexibility/protection without losing pockets. I tie everything loose down, and boom.

So I recently have had this 'pop' I make whenever I walk/sneak. My left bigtoe and ankle both make very the distinct sound, so I tried to see if anyone else had that problem. The answer was overwhelming, basically everyone would be like "Yeah, me too!" But whenever I see doctors talk about it they b...

Actually, I never know how to carry lockpicks. Sometimes they come with a pouch, but it's insecure and loose. I would just put it in my pack or pocket, but they'd snap the second I trip or do parkour. I've seen a few where they come in pocketknife form, but I hear that reduces the dexterity farther ...

I've brought it camping, and it was handy enough people kept trying to steal it. XD I'd say go for it, they're pretty cheap. Do keep it tight, though. It unfolded in my pocket a couple times.
How 'bout I go opping and get a couple no-flash photos of it in action?

It's LED, so not too powerful, but I don't want to illuminate a whole house with it.
If you put it in any normal room, it will let you see clearly enough to do whatever op stuff you do, but it will leave dark corners. I'd whole heartedly recommend it if you're going somewhere abandoned.

Re: What got you into night ops, anyway?
I've loved stealth since the idea was introduced to me by a book called "Ranger's apprentace". I hate reading SO much, it's usually boring or a waste of time. I'd rather make my own stories than read someone else's. Anyway, I gave this book a try and got bored. It's about a kid who when he turns 15 ...

Yeah, I'm having a lot of fun just enjoying the night most of the time. Plus, with friends, stress on an op just makes it more fun. So you can push them to go further and vice versa.

Re: Unusual gears
If you want a reliable door alarm and have time/money, you could easily rewire a smoke alarm to set off when a thin cord is removed. It'll scare the daylights out of whoever opened the door (including police) and you'll hear it from across the house.

Re: Knife
I meant for digging out old wood and stuff. Y'know those little hook-blades they sometimes come with? Those are perfect.
Re: Knife
I just like a multi-tool that is just good enough to stay in good condition for a while, with a knife I use for the less dirty work. I haven't obtained a good concealable fixed blade, so I have this nice oiled knife I use for slicing and cutting, and my multi tool knife is used for whittling and dig...
Re: Footwear
Yeah, but I prefer ball-heel rather than heel-toe in most cases, and that doesn't work well with boots.
Re: Footwear
But I've never seen someone able to quietly move in boots. And granted, sole rolling works and works well on flat hard surfaces, but it about halves your speed from my experiences. So if someone's coming, you're screwed. Although, can you send me a link to your boots? If they're flat on bottom they ...

Re: The Color Black
XD true. But if you can be next to invisible, that's worth trading in mobility. One of the tricks I've seen is you get essentially a cape/cloak ghillie suit that you can take off to flee, and it makes you invisible where it counts.

Thanks, and yeah it is. But I want to go full ghost mode on something to test myself. I'm good at climbing and sneaking, but I could always use actual live practice.
Re: Footwear
But isn't it better to be able to scale a wall than to kick a door?

This site kinda reminds me of a guild, skyrim style (if any of you have played that). We got people who are brutes, who are ok with stealth but prefer to use the kick down door style; we got car shoppers, shop lifters, B&E thieves, survivalists, street smart dudes, hackers, explorers, and parkourist...
