what is a good way to quiet up you breathing when you have been running? I have tried covering my mouth but it just prolongs the breathing..... any ideas?

I usually try to take deep, slow breaths with a wide mouth or a combination of nasal-ventral breathing when in public (such as on a train). It does take a bit longer to fully catch your breath fully, but it's quieter than huffing & puffing. Covering your mouth can work as well.
We are all books containing thousands of pages and within each lies an irreparable truth.

the main method that i use is to get as much carbon dioxide out of my lungs as possible, and then start breathing long and slow.
