Anyone think they would be good for night ops?

Thanks,

I can see them being good, I'm just worried about the ankle support.

Yea you may need a brace or something to add for ancle support.
This is good creeping shoes if you don't have to jump out a window or something though. :D
How much are they?

These were posted in a different topic. They are Vibram FiveFingers. This is the sprint model (I'm pretty sure). I think the KSO model would work better for night ops, because they cover more of the foot, and are black except for a small yellow logo that can be covered with a sharpie.

Edit: Oh, also none of these shoes have padding, except the KSO model, which has 2mm of padding.

I agree the color is an issue, I think if you use these get the blacks and find 5 toed black socks. Hopefully thin ones, they would work perfectly I think.

I've heard the strap causes some problems, but the KSO eliminates them.

I know, but the socks could provide extra cushion, so you wont hurt your feet as much.

IDK why. But I fell these would work better if you didn't have socks on.
Not sure why though.

Yeah, the whole point is give your feet better tactile feedback. Socks would cut don't on that.

Yes but if you don't need the tactical feed back and want some cushion for when you drop 10 feet, socks will be nice. Honestly it all depends on what you are doing, they're great shoes if you don't have to climb a lot or drop long distances.

Actually, for climbing trees and rocks these are the bomb. You need flexibility for climbing.

While the flexibility is nice when climbing, I think that the lack of support in the shoes outweighs the bonus flexibility. My buddy has a pair, they have little foot support and even less ankle support; you need to be a strong runner -or just have strong feet- to effectively use these shoes.

Exactly. All other shoes (except some tabi) suck because they allow your feet to get weak. Then you need to spend $250-$500 on fancy orthopedic shoes when your older because you have almost no feet muscles. If your use to walking around barefoot, these will be no problem.

It doesn't strengthen your feet, shoes weaken them.

A lifetime of wearing shoes can drastically alter a person's natural stride as well have other adverse effects including the weakening of foot muscles. I just wouldn't want anyone to buy these shoes thinking they can handle and then injure themselves.

Yeah, they say pretty much the same thing on their site. I'm only 15 and have been barefoot over 80% of my life easily.

Yep, I don't need to do very much training to improve my feet for kicking and stuff. I have one spot on my foot where the skin is probably 3/16 of an inch thick. I'm not afraid to walk on some broken glass barefoot.
