Re: Different Chat Perhaps?
I don't know if this thing is on a VPS yet, but I could host an IRC server if not, and if Torchat doesn't work out.

Re: State of the Fringe Forum
As for the issue of losing new users, maybe we could do some kind of clearnet gateway forum from which "good" users are picked to receive the directions to the darknet forum. Of course, the more we try to hide it, the faster it'll get leaked to the public forum. But maybe it doesn't have to be anyth...

Re: Site upgrade bug reports
After some recent change, I can't use my forum username from a regular IRC client. Re: Site upgrade bug reports
Neat.
You can use 192.241.248.144:9090/?channels=#thelounge to have the field prefilled.
I've just now discovered the joy of Kiwi IRC (.com). I never have need of a web client, but you might look into it if you want something with a bit more polish.

Yeah, I would definitely show up more often if it were an IRC channel. I'd recommend qwebirc for the web interface if mibbit doesn't sit right with you for whatever reason.

Give this a look if you're still interested. It may help to be able to see what's going on. It certainly helped to solidify some of these things in my mind.

Re: the purge
No, I can't say that I've never wanted to harm another person. There isn't a complete lack of desire to harm others, but there is, for me, an overriding desire not to harm others unnecessarily. What I'm saying is that I don't believe there are all that many people who would do harm but for the law i...

http://anonym.to/?http://www.cotse.net I use these guys for mail hosting. They have VPS and dedis too. They're a privacy-oriented service but still based in the US, so be aware of their obligations regarding law enforcement. Note that you can pay by mailing in cash; my real identity isn't tied with ...

Trouble is that you don't know when this op will become that kind of op. Maybe you don't expect confrontation, but maybe you get it anyway, and now you're wearing >20 extra kilos and it's a pain in the ass to deal with. I say have at it during the day and on dry runs but give yourself every advantag...

Re: Human Contact
One time I went out, half for shits and giggles and half to see if I could nick some food because I'd lost my job, to a grocery store where I'd found food shipments sitting around outside before. There was nothing outside, but the overhead door into the storage area was open, so I ducked in to see w...

Re: Ham radio
I've done my reading but haven't had the resources to act on it yet. I do some online CW here and there. This could be useful for covert communication. A pair of small, short-range sets, strategically positioned Morse keys, and the receiver wired to an earpiece or to a vibrator rather than a speaker...

Re: Vibram Shoes
I wore the same pair of KSOs for two years. They got dirty and torn-up but they were still in usable shape at the end. I recently got a pair of Merrell Trail Glove shoes. They're closed-toed shoes with Vibram soles, form-fitting and relatively thin and flat, though not so much as the Five Fingers. I...

Re: An idea for how to blind cameras with out doing damage
Yeah, as I understand they could just edit the red out, and see the image anyway, albeit not in full color. If they cared that much. And shining a bright light into it probably doesn't work either. My cheap webcam can adjust to compensate for a bright flashlight shined directly into the lens so I im...

Re: A.B.C.s Of Visible Invisibility
I think a helpful background for this sort of thing is if you were in band/[J]ROTC/military and learned to march. Head up, chest out, lean back, nice and easy; and you'll look a lot more like you're supposed to be where you are, going where you're going, than if you're shuffling around the place wit...

Re: From Invisible to Inconspicuous
Yeah, I do that too, OP. I would go out in black BDUs, but since I lived in a big city (recently moved), it was pretty much impossible for me to find any darkness to move through (especially since I just wanted to go explore a construction site. So I did basically what you said. Wore white T-shirt u...

Re: Are all night ops made up???
If SWIM wrote a story about someone writing a story like that, the story in the story would be about writing facts as a story to avoid explicitly confessing to committing a crime.

Re: For the bare beginners: escaping from your family.
Not a bad idea, there. Just bear in mind that your mobile can't simulate the creaking of the floor or the resonance of you stomping around the house, so you've got to watch that sort of thing too, and not rely entirely on whether you can hear that limited range of sound from the phone.

Caltrops, if you're not worried about someone's foot getting an impressive puncture. You can buy them online but unless you're a complete tool you'll just make them yourself. Thanks, OP.
